Behind The Scenes Making Of The MS-6

Screenshot 2025-05-01 at 3.07.10 PM.jpg

Clipped from your video, I hope you don't mind. The 6-inch and 5-inch versions.

I like all of your choices (grind, steel choice, profile) except for the holes in the fuller. If I have an option, I will always choose no holes in the blade of a fixed blade knife.

Overall, they look like a winners to me!

Thanks for the feed back and critique.

Its too late to change the holes on this batch. We went with them for a few reasons.
- Unique Look
- Can be used for braiding paracord and perhaps like a bow divot with a small nail and piece of wood.

We did chamfer the inside of the holes which is a bit tricky because of the shape.

I'll post an update on the blades early next week. They should be ready to sell around the end of the month.

There's a second look type of video.

Right now we have 20 of them finished but are waiting on the "official" packaging. Pretty sure that will be OK for this forum.

If anyone on blade forums wants one direct message me or call the shop during business hours (419-220-4009)

Specs:

- Fully CNC Machined
- .187" AEBL
- 6" Blade
- Fuller
- Chamfered Edges
- Thumb Ramp
- Milled Jimping
- Skelton on the inside, Chamfered as well
- Hidden Lanyard
- Exceptional Balance (calculated in the computer software)

We did a field grade version which are all black cerakote and as machined. I just left the mill lines in which actually leave a unique look.
We also did a finish grade which are machining much smoother and stone washed.

Black Cerakote + Smooth Grips = $275
Black Cerakote + Textured Grips = $290
Finish Grade + Smooth Grips = $315
Finish Grade + Textured Grips = $330

For the blade forum members I can knock you down a tier or two on the price. We also have some blemished blades. There's a handful from heat treat that have a metal chip imbedded into the blade and a couple other odd balls.

We have a batch size of 200 blade but only made half the grips and kydex. So we can figure out what people like best. At this point we could do some limited customization that will not be available to the general public.

I've been machining for about 20 year and doing behind the scenes work for the knife industry for 15+ years. To celebrate our first knife release we burned some brass challenge coins with our laser.

Attached are some pictures. Right now we are also working on getting the product photography done. Here's some photos I had on my phone.

This is the first place we have them for sale so if you would like a low serial number, with a good price and some customization. Please reach out and we will see what can do!

Looks good! I like the field grade look. Have you considered leaving some field grade in the uncoated state?

Just watched the video. Cool stuff and that sheath retention adjuster is genius.
That is really cool.

S StonerCNC , regarding the Snaggle Tooth name for the hatchet, there is a company by that name that makes pocket opening mods for folders.

I'll have to see what we have.... I might have a few we can do that way. Planning on putting some of them on the 2X72 and giving them a non machined look.

I'm a better machinist than a grinder so I have to get them close in the mills.

The sheath retention is really good. With surface ground and milled blades we can hold fairly tight tolerances and that shows up on the kydex.

Thanks for the heads up on that. I found his website.... but on the USPTO website could not find any active trademarks.

I'll reach out on that and see what he says. No need to use that name if its already taken.

Right now I just have a prototype with more steel on the way. I'll do an update on those in about a month.

A 5-inch field grade and no coating would be hard to resist.

5" field grades are running now and are about 2 months out. I can get you a real low single digit serial number if you would like. We have been serializing them under the grips, not that they will be collectible but to keep track of batches.

The 6" inch is really good and the general public seems to like bigger knifes. Personally I like a 4-5" Blade but we started at a 6" blade and will work our way down.

We reached out to this company and the name is OK for a tomahawk. Long story short you can legally use a TM symbol without registering and it provides a narrow range of protection. If a TM is officially registered it provides a broader range. They emailed promptly and seem like a reputable company and where up front with this.

6" blades are mainly waiting for packaging. Photography is coming along as well.

Cool, thanks for the follow-up. Another thing to consider though, even if you can use the name, do you really want to knowing there is another company/product out there, in the knife/tool market, already using that name?

I'm not sure..... When it comes to names let's make one up.... "bear claw" for example. Type that into google and you will get dozens of knifes.

In this case only two things come up.... a pocket knife flipper attachments, and a pocket knife from a different manufacture.

On search engines it might benefit us both? I would imagine people who are looking for fancy tomahawks also have a collection of pocket knifes and vise versa.

If anyone has a good name post it.... We are 2-3 months out and can change it very easily. Picture attached of product in question.

Any of your people need a kidney? I'll gladly trade one, I've got an extra one... in my freezer lol

Hey everyone, just thought I would share this YouTube video we made in the shop highlighting some of the process in making our first knife, the MS-6

Making of the MS-6
How do I get one of these beauties? I've been looking for a US made, high-quality larger blade for a reasonable price for awhile now. (yeah needle in a haystack right now)

Just give the shop a call..... 419-220-4009.... Right now we are missing the packaging. It's a soft release on Blade Forum for the knife enthusiast and the general public will get access June 2nd.

Austin is usually in the office and will want to know 4 things.

1. Stainless or Black Blade (The stainless ones are finished better, black ones are field grade and show the mill marks)

2. Choice of G10 Grips. (Solid Black, Solid Blue, Solid Orange, Blue/Black, Orange/Black, OD Green/Black, Military Camo, Desert Camo)

3. Texture Yes/No..... Solid Colors only.

4. Blem, Regular, Custom (2 Tone)…..

I've rarely seen any two tones and we aren't going to list them online any time soon. Give that number a call and I'll tell Austin to set you up between $250-$300 based on options.
