When I first saw the new Camp Perry Griptilian on the Benchmade website a few months ago, my first thought was wow, this is a Grip with the type of scales that I've been waiting for. I immediately fell in love with the blue G10 scales and the blue anodized standoffs. I liked the Shot Show Griptilian, but the black and red G10 scales didn't thrill me, however the blue and black on the Camp Perry did. I wasn't real hot on the branded Camp Perry blade either, but I knew a blade swap was no big deal. Similar to many folks here, the Ritter blade is my favorite shape of all of the options, so it was a no-brainer for me. However, there was a slight problem, I traded my new Ritter for a 940 just a few days prior, so not only did I need to purchase the Camp Perry, but also a new Ritter. I figured that I could always get a new Ritter since they were a regular production item, but I feared that the Camp Perry would sell out if I waited too long so I grabbed that one first. After haunting the exchange for a couple of weeks, a LNIB Ritter showed up and I jumped on it (thanks beemermark!). And well, you guys can figure out the rest..... So without further ado, let me present what I like to call, the Camp Ritter. It has met my expectations and I couldn't be happier.

That looks awesome!

My Ritter Grip with cuscadi scales is my favorite folder and I think I like yours even more.

I like your style! ;)

I figured that you would, seeing as how you beat me to posting the Camp Ritter by about a month! I think that Camp Perry frame with the Ritter blade is a perfect combo, everything about it just works so well.

Pretty sure a regular production run of that combo would sell very well. I know I would buy one.

Awesome combo and cool idea. I love the Shot Show version and the Camp Perry would be a nice addition to the limited edition grip family. Thanks for sharing!

thanks for the post. I am looking to do something very similar. Nice to see it visually to get an idea. How hard was it to do the swap? I have never done one before. Any advice for a newb?
Cheers.

I am not sure the 1/1000 really means it's the First, or that the marking means the run was a thousand pieces and this was only One of them.

It's a very easy maneuver to swap blades. FIRST AND FOREMOST, YOU MUST HAVE A RELIABLE TORX BIT SET TO DO THIS CORRECTLY! Loosen, but do not remove the frame screws. The frame screws are located along the edge of the scales while the liner screws are in the middle of the scales. Once they are lossened, you should be able to feel a little play in the scales, and a little is all that is needed. Slowley back out the pivot screw. As it is removing itself from the female end of the pivot, push in on the screw to help slide the pivot out. Once the screw and pivot are removed, the blade should slip right out from between the scales. Be carefull, it is very easy to forget you have a loose blade and you may cut yourself. Now reverse the steps with the new blade. You will find when trying to line up the holes between the blade, scales and washers, that manipulating the axis lock back and forth will make your job easier. This may sound like a lot of stuff to think about, but it is very easy. Good Luck.

Oakengroves ~ In response to your observation that the blade is marked 1/1000, unfortunately, all of the blades are marked that way. Every blade installed on the Camp Perry is marked as such, so other than being D2 steel, there's really nothing special about it.

Nice to have a confirm; this practice can drive buyers away from offerings and cause upset if it's implied by the numbers that they Do have something special. Either don't mark them as such or number them in sequence and Not in 1 of xx.
