4” pipe into a 5 gallon bucket, 4” pipe into the intake on a $20 leaf vacuum, 3” pipe into a 16 x 20 box with 16 x 20 HEPA filters as walls.

It sucks!

Actually, the opposite. It’s only for metal.

There’s water in the bottom of the bucket to kill off the sparks but, even if a spark makes it through, the worst I’m looking at is burning a hole in my filter.

I wouldn’t use this for wood because I don’t want to run it through the water (who needs soggy sawdust) but, without the water bucket there’s nothing really protecting the impeller fan. If a bigger chip made it down the pipe it might turn into a bullet.

When I look at that all I can think of is this

You could build an upper box over the blower and line it with shag carpet to attenuate the sound.

That is literally the greatest thing that I have ever seen. I need nine of those.

The second picture of your set up is loading really small for me! Could you re-post it larger? I really need something like this setup in my life!

Great apparatus !! Just a thought for you. Dry Sawdust is what burns, combusts, unless you Grind Aluminum & then Steel and make a crude Thermite which can burn your place to the ground. .. I have started a fire with dry wood sandings in a shop vac & then grinding Carbon Steel , made for some intense moments running for the fire extinguisher as smoke was billowing out of the shop vac. o_O... Stay safe & have fun!
