Don't get me wrong, I love my kid but,
Raising a child from birth to 18, is somewhat akin to being pecked to death by a chicken. Followed by a moment of pure bliss. Happy holidays, Fred:thumbup:

Yeah Fred, I know what you mean. I have had the honor and blessing of being a father to 9 of the little urchins---still have 3 at home (aged 10-16).

Sometimes I think that Chinese water torture would have been more fun.....but still, it's a true blessing and I wouldn't want to change much of anything. :D

9 wow:eek: you are a true supper dad..
I have 2 boys going on to 22 and 25 that was enough for me,, loveable little brats though:D I'm glad they weren't girls though,, I know I'd have killed someone by now..:D boys of another parent;)

wow my hats off to you i have two girls 2 and 6 years old. i love them to death but i dont know what i'd do with 9 you must have the patience of a saint. i've been trying to get the mrs. to have another one but she said i'd have a better chance shaving a bobcat in a phonebooth!:D

WOW........9......I thought I had it bad with 5. Sure keeps life interesting. If I had it to do over again I wouldn't change a thing.

There were times I would take a "Chicken-Pecki'n" any day.......Where does it end? I have a son 35, a daughter 25, and a stepson 23......

It has been a rough and rocky road (and still is at times), but I guess its worth it when those "grand-babies" start showing up from time to time.

Ironically young parents who are just learning the ropes are in such a hurry for their child to grow up, start walking, lose the diapers, feed themselves, etc. What they fail to understand is that its probably the EASIEST period of raising that child.

Thank you for that heart-warming sentiment. ;) :D

I don't have kids, but I know I gave my parents that feeling many times. :)

:D Being a parent is:
The hardest job, but most rewarding job in life:D If I just could have taken some classes or gotten some "OJT" and better prepared myself.....the Mrs. and I might have stuck to raising beagles, instead of 2 sons;)

think about Alaska:confused: , way to go:thumbup: :D
just kidding that's where he picked to go..you know, that place 6 years ago was 22K a year ,hey money might not be everything but you don't ride far with out it :D

Well 5 of the 9 are girls and they are WAY harder to raise than boys! A wise man once said that daughters were God's way of getting even with a father for his earlier, youthful transgressions.

The first time my oldest daughter brought a young man home to introduce him to the family I had just finished cleaning my shotgun after a long day of chucker hunting. They walked in the front door just as I racked the action closed.
You know the sound of the action closeing on a 12 gauge has a very remarkable impact on a teenage boy------his eyes bugged out and he turned white as a sheet!:)

When I told him that the shotgun had many uses other than bird hunting and that I fully expected him to treat my daughter with a great deal of respect he couldn't seem to say "yes, sir" fast enough. Funny he never came back..........hmmmm.

I have a 15 year old girl and 12 year old boy. I'll rent them to any of you old goobers that are getting misty...
My daughter brought a boy to the house and introduced me to him. I happened to be out in the back yard running a chainsaw cutting down a tree at the time. He came up to shake my hand, I didn't even turn off the saw, I just put it in my left hand and held out my right. Just as he shook my hand, I squeezed his hand a little and goosed the chain saw. My wife saw this and busted out laughing. I didn't laugh until he was gone, I didn't want him to think I was kidding around....I wasn't.

You guys bring back some memories, very funny ones too. Back when my oldest daughter was about 15 (now 32) I used to answer the door when callers came with a "go away, don't come back", with a knife in my hand.

What a great thread! When Marilyn and I met about 4 years ago (computer dating), one of our first phone conversations - I warned her I have 7 kids. She just paused and then informed me she has 9. They're pretty much all grown up, but all 16 showed up for the weding, from all across the country, as well as all 16 (at the time) grandkids. BY early summer, the grandkid count should be up to 22. So far, the kid count is holding at 16. ;)

Mike is so right. Boys are easier. If they do something, they come home - take the wrap if its a good bust - take their grounding or whatever and life goes on. Girls, on the other hand, learn to be devious from birth! Daddy won't let her cry herself to sleep. Daddy, read me just one more story. Daddy can I sit with you and watch the game? Daddy, can I PLEEEAAASSSEEE have the car tonight? Wow daddy - that was the best shot I've ever seen!

A Dad has no chance when his daughter turns on the charm. .... and we wouldn't have it any other way!:)

Rob!
