I just got Bela Fleck's new Album, The Imposter, this weekend.

Wow!

I have long been a casual fan of this very talented man with so much rooting in bluegrass. But with this new album, Mr. Fleck now takes his place, in my opinion, as perhaps the greatest American musician of our time. Not since Leonard Bernstein, George Gershwin, and Aaron Copland have I heard such music.

Thank you Gollnick. I've had the pleasure of seeing him and his band live a couple of times in the past and enjoyed their music. Haven't heard much of his music lately and will check out "The Imposter". Mike

Amazing music. I believe I have all of his music....early bluegrass days with New Grass Revival and the then on with the Flecktones. I've had the pleasure of seeing them live as well. Hope to catch him/them again one day myself.

Well,

I like the blues, so it is not much of a stretch for a blue grass taste as well. I will check it out.

Anyone who's a fan of Fleck should check out "Throw Down Your Heart", a semi-documentary about his trip to Africa to find the "roots of the banjo" and it's place in African music.
Really good stuff, where Fleck makes music with a little village group in one country, some fairly advanced folks in another, and a rather sophisticated group of musicians in a third.
Fascinating scenes all through... I especially liked the little village where virtually everyone plays or helps play, almost entirely on home-made instruments.

There is one cut from this album available on Youtube that I found. It was interesting.

Thanks!
I saw the group perform at Bucknell. Fantastic!
Whoz in his band, now?

FYI...the MP3 version of Bela Fleck's new Album, The Imposter, is available on Amazon for only $5. Not sure how long that price is good for though.
