Does anyone have any experience with these natural stones ?I was googling around trying to find sites or blogs about natural whetstones and was reading about these that are like a sandstone with soccer ball shaped garnets that cut and polish. The Coticle is a yellow color and has a higher percentage of garnets than the Blue. The straight razor folks love them.I like natural stones and even though my DMT hones and Norton Fine and coarse Indias are all I really need I like rare and odd stones and buy them when I can afford them.I would appreciate any input from those who have used these or links to any blogs or sites about natural hones. The razor and woodworking folks are where I have found lots of info. Thanks

All you state is correct about the stone except the spelling. I have a Belgian yellow coticule and have used it many times to sharpen my straight razor. They are much better than our black Arkansas stones. Read in Badger and Blade. There many knowledgeable folks over there on these stones. DM

That was one of the sites I ended up on,lots of interesting threads on different stones. It seems the most common topics are on Japanese water stones.I dont really have an interest in waterstones for some reason,I guess the belgians are technically waterstones though.Even though I do not have any need or inclination to hone my blades to the mirrored perfection that some on this forum achieve it is fun to read about the methods and tools they use in the quest for perfection.Sort of how the family sedan or pick up benefit from racing technology.

Your welcome. Neither do I care to hone my knives to a mirror edge. But more power to them and enjoy the journey. I'm not into water stones either but behold I own several water stones. The coticule, ceramic and SiC being one. Now, my razor-- that's a different story. Sharpening a razor is one of the few areas where sharpening OCD is accepted. O, my I didn't want to put myself in that category. I better rephrase that... DM
