Below belt sheath (candiru style) for izulas

I recently bought an esee candiru and actually like the sheath it comes with. I live in ca and can't conceal fixed blades and don't tuck my shirt in so I like how it hangs below the belt. I want to get an izula as well but would want the same kind of below the belt sheath. Black leather or even cordura would be fine. Anything mass produced like this or would I have to get something custom?

I'm not familiar with those knives .. got any pictures of what you're talking about? Just for my curiosity. I tried a google style search but dont see anything that sounds like what you're describing.

He's talking about the ESEE Candiru and the ESEE Izula.

Yeah, I got that part and that's how I searched for their stock sheaths designs .. but I dont understand the sheath concept he's referring to.

The izula stock sheath keeps the handle above the waist. I want something that would keep the entire blade below the waist

ok .. so just some kind of drop rig so the sheath rides lower on your thigh? I guess you'll need to know how far (in inches) under waistline you want it and what kind of sheath material (leather, kydex, nylon, or a combination). I'm sure someone here could make you a custom rig. I dont have one of those knives .. so I'm at a loss at helping ya out. I'd need to have a knife or pattern in hand and build from there.

Brandon,

Now that you've opened the search up to leather you've got all kinds of options... I don't know of anything made of cordura that will be like the Candiru sheath.... keep in mind that the stock Candiru sheath has a plastic insert and there's really no way around that. Getting a Kydex sheath with a leather drop-loop is no problem, and of course there are some really good craftsmen here that work with leather so I'd check the list of sheath makers at the top for a "leather guy".

Here's an example of this kind of setup (from description & pic) in a Kydex setup:

Different knife, here's a similar setup for a knife that's about the same size: Swamp Rat Rodent 3

Hope this helps,

Those kydex sheaths look amazing. I think im going to do a temporary leather back strap and loop with the stock sheath until I can afford yours Eli. Great work.

Thanks & sounds good, ready when you are. The leather loop on the first one pictured is a little thinner than I make them now so I'd make you a good deal on it. I take trades too;)

Which one is that? I don't need the lighter holder just loop and sheath as low profile as possible

sorry brandon_ml .. I had offered to make you a simple drop sheath (for free), but some how offering a FREE sheath when I dont have a craftsman membership to someone is a violation of the forum rules and I was reported and my post removed. Good luck with your sheath search.

I see whatcha did there sneaky pete! :p Your ok now, but you said nothing about that sheath being free in your post. You must be clear on matters like that. But now your ok no matter, but be it known that even craftsman level member cannot discuss pricing in the discussion forums, just an FYI for those reading this. If you buy three years of a craftsman membership (like I did by the way) you get your own little bit of real estate to sell and tell all you want. Its kind of nifty actually. :)

I appreciate that! Im talking to someone from another forum that's done alot of leather loops for stock sheaths. Thanks anyways though that was very cool. Things seem a little tense around here...
