I realize the simple answer to this is to get rid of the extra tire. My question is for the bigger folks out there. What shape belt buckle have you found to be the most comfortable if you have a big stomach? Thanks

Rounded edges are your friend - if your thinking western style look for one with a rope detail around the outside.

I have some side clip suspenders from Duluth trading company. Very rarely used them. I wanted a belt so I could carry a multitool, etc.

I have a bit of adipose tissue on my gut and I wear the brass one shown on the belt.

However, I am working toward the sterling silver and gold one, call it a motivational aid, shown above the belt.

I am on the last notch of a smaller belt bot last Fall. I intend to get a new, and still smaller, belt this year 2014. The fancy buckle is my reward for goal.

And, yes, the brass one can hurt a bit now and then. It reminds me of my intent. As does the UP band on my wrist that buzzes me every hour that I am at rest and records my mileage (and sleep). If I can do it then you can do it. What one man can do another can do. You can do it. Oh yes you can. :)

Reverse of goal buckle for the buckle fans, you know who you are:

Google mechanics belt. They are buckle-less. Hope that helps.

Here is an example I pulled off google images.

The Wilderness Store has an Instructor Belt with a Titanium buckle that could solve all your problems.

I appreciate the support. I do need to get myself motivated before I wake up dead one of these days!

I remember having a "T" and "U" belt when I was a kid, remember it being pretty slim, not sure if it would handle the weight and rigors of a belt for a big man.

I finally tried a pair of suspenders, aside from making me look even more like my paternal grandfather, it really helped since I have a classic case of no-ass-itis and belts whether classic or pull through are either too loose or too tight. The one thing to watch for is how much spring the suspenders have and doing some squats to make sure you don't end up in an uncomfortable position.

My personal buckle...

But a good quality web/double-ring belt should prove very secure and quite comfortable.
