Belt carry - horizontal clip?

Has anyone ever seen a knife that allows you to clip to your belt and carry horizontal? Not a horizontal sheath, but just a clip on the knife that allows you to clip right to your belt. I don't like to have the pocket clip showing out of my pocket so I normally don't clip them on; just let the knife sit in my pocket. This is sometimes annoying with the larger folders as they bounce around quite a bit. I was thinking if there was a way to clip right to my belt then my shirt would cover it and I could avoid the excess weight in the pocket.
 
Just a thought. I don't know how large a knife you carry, but there are some of the horizontal phone case, ones with a flap that folds over the top, that might work for you. Then it just looks like you have a phone. Again, just a thought.:)
 
Good idea. I thought about that too, but I was hoping for a direct clip to the belt. Thanks for responding.
 
You could see about getting a custom clip made for horizontal carry. I have never seen a clip like that but I suppose it's possible.
There are plenty sheaths that would work that way if you could live with it. You could also just go for the IWB carry method.

This might not be to hard to do if the knife in question had the reversible clip option (tip up/tip down). You could send it to STR or someone of your liking and tell them what you want. Just a tight spring clip on each end for horizontal carry. I really don't know how this would affect how the knife would feel in hand though. Just an idea.
 
I've tried to carry IWB in the vertical position, but it's not as comfortable as I would like. I know I can't be the only one who has thought of this. Seems like it would be a nice option on many of the medium size folders to have an optional clip that could be attached. Of course, there would need to be enough handle size to make it work but I think it could be done with many knives. I'm EDCing a Syderco Tenacious these days. I think the handle is wide enough that clip could be done to allow the horizontal belt carry.
 
If you really don't want to go for a leather or kydex sheath of some sort, a custom clip would be a good way
to go, but it will probably end up costing more than a simple sheath set up that would do the same job.
 
Yea, I know the sheath is probably the easiest way to do this, but I really like the idea of the clip. Has anyone ever seen this done before?
 
Check with the guys at Shadow Tech knives. I wear a horizontal sheath every day that they made. Great guys too.
 
I've never seen it done. I would imagine that this might not work out so well just considering how shallow the clip would have to be. It would also mount right in the middle of the knife. Put both of those together and I think you have one awkward knife.
