I have the grizzly 2x72 belt grinder and when I push my work into the platen even with little pressure the belt slides away from my work, when I,m not grinding anything the belt runs just fine. Dose anybody know a fix to this problem?

As a guess, I'd say you're platen might need adjustment. It should make some contact with the belt.

What kind of belts are you using? Quality belts really are key.

More belt tension. Also seen folks run a thick strip of electric tape down the center of the large bottom wheel to keep the belt centered.

As others have said try more belt tension to start---you might be surprised how tight a belt should really be--damn tight!! Also make sure your tracking wheel area is clean and as someone mentioned it might be worth adjusing your platen, especially if it goes to one side consistently.

Good luck--Don

You should have a fair amount of tension, you'll have to play with it to see what your belts like, but the platen should bow the belt out a bit when you look at it from the side.
I'm working off memory here so bare with me.
Remove the belt. Where the platen attaches to the upright, there should be two bolts that when you loosen them, they should allow you to move the platen in and out and angle it. You'll just need to keep adjusting until it feels right.

There's also two knobs on the upright that will let you extend it to get more tension from the belt.
