Belt Grinder out of Chinese Surface Grinder?

Has anyone made a thickness grinder out of a Chinese surface grinder such as sold by Harbour Freight or Grizzly? Seems it would work if I could figure out the hardware arrangement.

Your post and the thread title are contradictory. Maybe that's why no one has posted on it yet.:confused:
 
If you are speaking of converting the surface grinder from stone wheels to belts, the answer is yes, it has been done by numerous makers. Here's one design:

People like Bertie's wheels because they are high-durometer and don't cup from the pressure.
 
John, email me and I can send you some pics of mine and some from the one Ed Caffrey built. Ed sent me some photos to help me through the process. For knife making, this kind of setup is the shiznit! :D
