I was wondering if any of you folks have worked with the belt/disc grinder combos. I am just starting to make knives. I have some designs and the such and some mat'l(files, saw blades for now until my hand gets steadier and I buy some 440C) I would like to know if any of you started out with just one of those combos machines you see. Craftsman, Mastercraft(Canadian Tire), Delta(Home Depot)are ones that I have seen. I would like to know if these are of any value? Will they work at making blades or are they too light duty for that? I have the motor and equipment readily available to make a bigger 2x72 belt sander but wonder if I spend some cash(and not so much labour building one) and get the combo albeit less powerfull...will it work? I know it would come in usefull down the road finishing off different mat'ls but will it just be very frustrating to try and use one to grind out blades? I am going to start with 440C and go from there. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks and Take Care!!!
