Belt grinder

Look at the Reeder Basic Chassis. Add the wheel kit. Get a 2HP TEFC motor and VFD package from any source you find a good deal on. If you use a contact wheel, Reeder makes very good ones.

The inverter went out again. I have had the grinder for 3 years and this is the second one that I had to replace. It is a 2x82” grinder.

I have had the Pheer for several years and it's great. Wilmont Grinders if you can find one, but my understanding is Chris is only making limited runs for Blade Show now. Reeder was already mentioned.

If budget is no concern, take your pick:

Brodbeck
TW-90
Ameribrade

The list goes on.

If budget is no concern, The Reeder Ultimate is a great package.

I always recommend the Reeder mobile base with their grinders. It makes the machine really useful, as you can move it easily outside on a sunny day, or over to another part of the shop when cleaning. The area under the mobile base can hold a shop vac, Dust Deputy, or dust bong.

You can mount Z-brackets on the side legs and hang accessory arms and such there.
The surface grinder attachment is also a great tool.

I have four TW-90's. If I needed another grinder it would be a TW-90.
Travis Wertz, the maker of TW-90 lives in Arizona. You might be able to go see him in person. He also has a lot of U-Tube videos.

What Travis came out with the TW-90 it was a great improvement over the KMW and Bader B3. Some of his new ideas were really good.
My issues with my TW-90 are:
No reverse switch -can't run in reverse for sharpening and some other reverse tasks.
1.25" tool arms - can't be used with other tool arm accessories or other grinders.
Tracking adjust is a little wonky.
While I like the ratchet tensioner, it is hard to determine when it is set right. No index for repeated use.
Tool arm lock lever is on the wrong side and gets in the way of the belts when changing them.

That one Contender Works has looks nice, no first-hand experience though to speak of.

I run mine in reverse without issue. Of all the grinders I have and have used, the TW90 has the best tracking by far. To the OP, TW90 or Burr King would be my choice.

Northridge Tool is another top of the line grinder to consider in getting a good overview of available machines. A couple others that haven't been mentioned are Beaumont Metal Works KMG, Bader B-3. There are also a couple European grinder manufacturers who seem to be of high quality.

Stacy E. Apelt - Bladesmith Stacy E. Apelt - Bladesmith There are enough of these inquiries that I wonder whether it's worthwhile to consider including a comprehensive list of available 2x72s and other grinders in a sticky?

There is no reverse switch on my TW-90. Maybe it was an early model. I have intended to add the F-S-R switch for a long time, just never got around to it. When I do I'll add the power switch, too.

Fitzo - That is a good idea. I will start a grindr thread and make it a sticky. People can post about their grinder and opinions of it. Accessories and tooling can go there, too. I'll put the details in the thtead starter.

Unfortunately Northridge Grinder is no more.
