I'm in the market for a sander/grinder such as the Bader with a 2"x72' belt or something similar. I'd like to be able to mount both large and small contact wheels, and a flat platten.

Would anyone care to make a recomendation? Cost is a concern.

The Grizzly is the best deal going. The Bader is the ultimate.

I have a Bader BIII and have used it as a template for several shop-made grinders. Excellent, simple design. Simply can't go wrong with it.
A lot of people really like the KMG too.
You'll never find yourself grinding away and thinking, "darn! I wish I got that lesser grinder."

JCasswell, what is the KMG? I've looked at the Grizzly and I like it except it doesn't seem to have provisions for a small diameter wheel. I like the Badder myself and have used one a couple, but it's out of my price range right now.

Bill DeShivs and cbwx34, thank you both for your input.

It doesn't have the provisions for a small diameter wheel. Nothing less than 8", unless you are working on something less than 8" long.

I'm not sure what that means! The Grizzly has a 10" wheel option, but no option for contact wheels less than 8". The Grizzly does have a flat platen built in. Other Grinders use a special platen attachment at extra cost. I have expensive grinders, but I use my Grizzly more than any other tool in the shop.
The 1725 RPM buffer on the Grizzly is an added bonus.

take a look at the coote belt grinder. I'm probably gonna go with that one. Need to buy a motor though, no problem. Looks like a tank, and is as expensive as the grizzly. Heard it was a better machine than the griz too.

I ordered my Grizzly/belts/10" contact wheel on August 22nd.....backordered till the first part of October:eek: They must be selling the heck out of those. BTW, their catalog is a "must have" for tool nuts.

Thank you all. It looks like the Grizzly or the KMG will be on my bench before long.
