Can't quite figure out what to do about this.
I have a set of EDC gear, not a lot, but enough that I can't really fit it into jeans comfortable. Flashlight (Surefire E1B), spare battery, SAK, a small notebook, a little bit of emergency money, a tiny amount of first aid supplies, that's it. Most people would carry that stuff in their front jeans pockets, but I can't stand having things riding there. So at the moment I'm carrying everything except the notebook in a camera case on my belt. That works, except it's awkward to get at the flashlight and knife.
What I'd like is a small belt pouch that holds this stuff in a specific way. I can envision it. I don't don't think it would be really that hard to make if I knew what I was doing. But I have zero experience with leather working.
So my options are:
1. invest in videos, books, tools, leather and other stuff until I have the skills to do it right; or
2. find someone who knows how to work leather to make this for me.
I suspect option 1 would be at least $500 and my spare time for about a year. There's also the question about whether I have the attention span to follow through. On the other hand, there's the whole "doing it yourself will give you the most satisfaction" thing.
So ... anyone feel like a project? I'm not looking for anything super fancy, but I do have a rather specific design in mind.
Or should I just dive in and start figuring this out my own damn self?
