belt preferences

Just looking to see what types of belts (zirc., ceramic, Gator, ect.) people are using for different jobs like hogging out and finishing.

I am using an old craftsman 2x42.

I recently stepped up to the ceramic and gators, what a huge difference. I'm never going back.
I like to hog with the 60 grit ceramic, then go to gators at 80, 220, and 400 grit.

I like and use Ben's prefferences as well as some of the Norax ones in 45, 16. and 5 grit. Frank

5 grit, that must basically be a brick glued onto a belt,lol I use 3 different belts, 36,60,120 from Hogg abrasives, Gotta say Ive been pleased with them

Never seen lower then 24 grit i cant imagine a 5 grit belt lol... I'm liking the blaze ceramics for hogging and the gators for finishing as well

I am with the rest of the guys. I am new at this, but I like ceramic in 60, them gator 240 and trizact 400, also like the norton x22.

I think the 5 grit he is referring to is like the 22 I am reffering to. Different grit scale x22 is about 700-800 grit. So 5 would we really fine.
