So not to toot my own horn, but i am pretty good with a stone free hand. That said, i am a newbee on my 1x30 belt sander (harbor freight special).

I thought my SAR Warden would be a great canadate to work on. It is fatter than most (leaving some meat to repair for errors) and is currently a lesser expensive of the Wardens...

My goal was to recontour the grip just a bit, making a larger relief for my pointer finger, and maybe a little more rearward relief for the rear fingers (creating a greater lower belley). The other goal was to round the spine ala StreetScraper4.

-mistake 1. I practiced a good bit on hard cheap steals that removed very slow, so the first time i put the belt onto the INFI, i lost material way faster than expected.. I was going the way of toothpick trying to repair my first mistake.

-Mistake 2. not using enough care not to burn the point.

that said, the project went pretty well. I did what i wanted, then started over a few times to get the hang of the tool and the material. I ended up trying a semi tanto point and am fairly pleased with it. I know i could have dont better with the stone (and may finish that way) but this is what i have so far..

-I have no meadia blaster at this point, or buffer, so the finish is just a scotchbright pad for now... I will either go beadblast or DuraCoat in the future (I am setup to do DC here and thats easy enough, but with the yellow scales, bead blast i think would look killer)

-She is not done, but well on her way... tip is better in person, shadow added from flash kinda obscures it.

Cool! Nice job! I like that tip; great for utility. How does that grip feel now?

Grinducci will be along shortly to evaluate your job. :D

Nice to see someone else joined the "Disfigured-A-Busse Club" I don't feel so lonely now.

She fills my hand great, and feels good with a way-forward grip now (thumb on spine)...

I want to stone her, to really square up that tanto, on both straights (as you can see, there is still some belley to remove before the lower point...

If anything, i left the G10 a bit too smooth, and will have to roughen her up where i sanded..

I have so much respect for G10 (always have, but even more now)... its really a great material, works well, cleans well, lasts well..

when she is done, i will add some more pics (may be a long way out, as time is scarce lately)

OMG now there's TWO OF THEM:eek:

and another warden bites the dust, and our resale prices go up:thumbup: :D

Ironballs, when you grind G10, you are putting glass dust in the air, wear some respiratory protection!

Tim, can you explain the serrations on that 'swedge"? Were you trying to redeem it in some way?

I like it bro... Looks pretty good on the tip -- that's way braver than me.

Don't be scared to move more around the handle, mine feels great after I slimmed it a bit.

Good job. If you like it, and had some fun, then it's a success!

I think you've done a good job. Doubt I'd have done as well.

That said, we may have to christen you: IronDucci!!:D

(So beware)

the humanity. Disfigurement. I hope you guys ground them with a colling media. Otherwise you now have butter knives:D

Bucket of cold water and a cold day... dunk prior to grind, and every pass.. she never even hits room temp.. except the point if you hit it wrong...

Anyhow, my edge pro came, and i played with her a bit (again, i am use to oil stone free hand).. but am very impressed with the edgepro. Great for thinning the blade, and especially for squarring of tanto blades... works very quickily. I was even able to (faily quickily) bring my SR M6 from 3/4grind to full grind on one side, what a neat little tool..

Still more work to come, and these pics suck,.. but i am really enjoying this project and the blade is comming along..
I put a 3 angle edge on her, so when she hits the leather strop,... the convex should really take nicely
