Belt sander sharpening/"reprofileing"

Yes! It is OK to use whatever works for you that does not ruin the heat treat. In other words, don't let the grinding turn the blade edge blue or black. Use water to cool it down before it gets to hot to touch. If using a belt sander, go easy and use light pressure and keep the knife moving to avoid heat build up. Better to take your time and remove as little metal as possible at a time. Use several passes if necessary to achieve your desired results. Good luck!

Have a Blessed day!

I used one to restore a blade that had been chipped deeply by a pull through sharpener. Saved me hours with a stone. As stated above you must be careful not to overheat the edge. Practice on a junk knife...

Use new belts, the slowest speed possible, cool after each pass. With a belt machine you can change the profile in a hurry.
