Belt Sander Sharpening -- Rounding the tips of my knives.

I've gotten a 1x30 HF belt sander and ordered 150, 240, 400, 15micron, 9micron, Leather belt with black compound, Leather belt with green compound. I've been getting better with practice but I am still rounding off the tips of my knives. Any tips on how to keep a nice pointy tip on my knives or what I may be doing wrong?

Try not to drag the tip of the knife off of the sander. Reach the tip, then pull the blade towards you rather then continue moving it across the belt.

^What he said, just take the knife off when you get halfway or so across the belt with the tip.
