I like the idea of keeping at least a minimal kit attached to my body in case I get separated from my pack. I just saw a whole bunch of small digital camera cases that are approximately the size of an Altoids tim. The ones I was looking at were made by Case Logic and Lowe Pro and were made for the small, flat pocket digitals like the Casio EXILIM and they ran from $5 to $10. They came in various sizes and colors as well.

These would be great for belt carry and could also be used to add a pouch to a knife sheath. Some were nylon and some were neoprene. Certainly more expensive than a canvas military surplus pouch, but they would have the added benefit of camouflage, in that they woiuld not appear "tactical" if worn with street clothes. Kind of like carrying a riot gun in a Yamaha keyboard case! ;) You could also find a nice leather pouch for business attire. People would just assume you're a tech geek with a PDA, not a survival geek with a PSK!!!

 I grabbed one of the Realtree dig cam cases from Wally World a few weeks back and set up my mini-kit in it. The belt loop sucks, but I like the carry strap for grab and go.

Yeah, the one I ended up buying was Mossy Oak and will house my mini kit when out bowhunting. Between that and the NiteIze multitool pouch I should be set even if I get seperated from the rest of my gear.

I have a black grande pouch that I got from Blackhawk Ind. a few years back
and have mine in it it works great for me it is right next to my Chris Reeves
Shadow III. This is my every day carry and has worked just great for me.
You might try a small pouch like this.
