Belt Suggestions?

I need a few suggestions on belts for a Harbor Freight 1x30 belt sander and a WorkSharp sharpener. I am not a knife maker so I'd like to keep it as simple as possible. I'd like to fill the gap on the Worksharp between 220 and 6000. I have several knives that don't need the aggressive 220 worksharp but need a couple grits in between.

Here is what I have so far:

Worksharp:
Factory supplied belts 80, 220 & 6000

Harbor Freight 1x30:
Econ Abrasives 80, 150, 400 and leather

I'm not going to go through a bunch of belts so a few good ones will last me a long time.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Great article uncledog! Great advice. The only problem I had was, the leather belt mentioned kept breaking. They returned my money though. I went to another vendor and got a belt that is still going strong today. PM me if you're interested in the vendor.

I jump from 400 to leather for toothy or from 400 to 6 or 800 then leather depending on what I'm sharpening.
On the work sharp, beyond the factory belts all I could find is a 400 and 1800 that have been working well to fill in the gap.
I will add that I use the 1x30 90% of the time for most sharpening.

EDIT: Thanks for the thread uncledog57, lots of good info.
