Hi All:

I was thinkin the other day ( I know dangerous ) and came up with something I want to share.

First off where I got the idea.
Im a Cowboy Action Shooter so I deal with holsters and such.
Well in the old west there was a gunbelt style that was a money belt.
The belt was a "tube" of leather in which you had a strap on it that had the buckle and the other tab with holes.
What you did was pass the strap through a slot in the tube to prevent stuff from falling out.
I thought why not make one to hold certain items for survival, such as twine, dollar coins "or gold soveriegns for you James Bond types " maybe some tinder or what have you.
As long as what you carried was flat and flexible you probably would forget you were carrying it.

I think this is a good idea.I wear a Bowen belt and buckle daily and forget I have it on all the time! If Bowen made the belt with the inside zippered or like you describe,it would work for a few items.I remember a while back seeing someone advertise a flexable steel that held a good edge.I think they were from Germany or? The best survival kit is the one you have with you(except for your brain).A belt kit would go on with or right after your pants,so problem solved.I KNOW some of you guys can come up with some killer ideas for this!

Maybe, even a short ferrocerium rod and a scraper could be squeezed in. Also, some surgical tubing for sling shot and transpiration bag. Maybe, some duck tape, even a mylar survival bag or large plastic garbage bag. Now, it starts depending on your waist size

Furthermore, somebody should really come up with the highly-reflective credit card/signal mirror combination that would be a double feature during these recession-shadowed days

Man, I don't know WHY I am always getting double posts. It only happens on this board. I'll try to delete the extras from now on. Sorry, guys.

I got to thinking about an "E&E" belt kit shortly after seeing a stash-away belt for sale in the Shomer-Tec catalog. It was black nylon, had a zipered "compartment" that ran most of the length of the belt, and came with a buckle. It was around $25.00, I think. If I ever get the money to put a kit like this together, it would be the ultimate "Walter Mitty" kit. If nothing else, it would allow you to carry a little bit with you inconspicuously. And a wire saw would be a natural for this kit. Of coourse, there's no way your belt would make it into the airport. :~}
