Belt Tracking

I just got an order of belts for my 2x42 grinder from Supergrit. I ordered 3 60 grit Blue Zirconia belts. Of the three two just plain wouldn't track at all! The other one was just fine, as were the 120 grit and 36 grit belts I ordered, and all of the S/C. This makes me believe it must be some problem with the belts, and not my grinder. Has this happened to anyone else before, and is there anything I can do about it? Thanks.

Call them and let them know about it. they have always been pretty nice to deal with in the past.

Occasionally you will get a belt that will not track because the splice is just a few thou off. Nothing you can do about it if you do not have a lot of adjustment in your tracking system.

It happens occasionally. I use those belts for the sloppy/non precision work like grinding things down to size etc. Use the ones that track good for the finer tasks like plunge cuts etc. You will find all sorts of belt problems the longer you order them. I tend to order alot of belts at one time so I dont have to keep going thru it all the time. I had on batch that came to me (I ordered 50 of them) in 400 grit that were 72 1/2" long. This means that every time you use one you have to undo the adjustments and then go back when your done with the 400 grit. I should have sent them back but I didnt. I am almost done with them now and wont be ordering from Industrial Abrasives again!

I have contacted them, was just more curious as to if this was something that was avoidable. Sounds like it is just something that happens every now and then so I will just deal with bad belts as I get them.
