I have been looking around at the different types of 2 x 72 belts out there.

What type do you prefer and where do you get them?

I want to get 36 grit, 80, 320 and 500.......

any suggestions?

Belts have gotten pretty advanced in the knife size. manufacturers have designed them for differant "ways'of grinding. Some are made for high speed and pressure . Some low speed and high pressure etc.. If I were you I would call James Poplin of Pop's knife supplies and talk with him. He'll fix you up

Thanks Mark...Sounds like a "Duh"...I should have known :D

BL, I get them from Pop's and from Tru-Grit. Pop's does not carry the Norton Norax belts, which I use exclusively for finishing these days.

Thanks guys.

Now I need the grinder :p

Another vote for James Poplin. The phone number is 1-706-678-5408. Get the 3M silica carbide belts for grinding steel. They are more expensive but last soo much longer. I use a lot of 60, 120, and 240 silica carbide belts from 3M, and the purple 400 grit from Klingspore. The klingspore is aluminum oxide I believe, silica carbide belts only go up to 240 grit. Hope it helps.
