Belt Wobble Fix

If this has been discussed elsewhere at another time, my apologies.

Occasionally, I find that a grinding belt that I have used at least once before, seems to really have a case of the "wobbles" when I put it back on my grinder. Even an occasional new belt will do the same. This can wreak havoc when trying to grind a straight line.

Well, I took a spray bottle of water and "spritzed" the belt backside while it was running and........... Wa-La........ it immediately began running as straight as a string.

I know that some belts are not "water friendly", however this worked great on 3-M Ceramics 60, 120, and 220 grits as well as Klingspor 400 grit.

Just thought I would share.

Wow! That's a great tip and makes perfect sense. Now we are all slapping our forheads for not thinking of that sooner.

I've always noticed that belts are sensitive to humidity...by curling up with moisture. Spritzing them with water simply makes the moisture content very uniform, hence the straight as a string running! After a mnute or two of grinding, I'm sure most of the moisture will evaporate away.

I've got to try this!!! Now that I want one...I can' find a wobbly belt to save my life (hee hee):D :D
