My Bader 3 developed a problem today. Late this afternoon the belts started jumping to the right side. It would line up straight and run normal if I were using the middle or left side of the belt. But if I put enough pressure on the right side the belt would jump that way over an inch! I put on new belts three times 2X60 grit and 1 X 80 grit. The 60 grits are inexpensive belts but all the other same belts have ran with no problem. The 80 was a name brand Zirc belt. The wheel is a Bader 8" serrated. I am looking for help have any of you had this problem?

Make sure you are tensioning the spring enough, a light spring will cause flighty tracking issues.

Check that the belt tention is tight enough.

The idler wheel hasn't lost its crown.

Check to see that the contack wheel hasn't developed a dished out shape rather than a slight conves from right to left. Do this with a stright edge.

Check the tightness of the bolt that holds the arm the idler in mounted on.

Check for idler wheel thightness.

Check tightness of drive wheel.

Thank you for your replys. I think there several issues. 1. I found the idlers pivot bolt a little loose. The idlers moved to the side 1/8". Fixed that. 2. The tension release handle hits my new tool rest, causes me not to put enough tension. How do I know how much tension is right? 3. The contact wheel seems to have a slight dish. Is that something I can fix? Thanks for your help. Jess
