i bought a bunch of belts years ago. I’ve finally run out of them and I can’t remember where I bought them. Help! It’s on a 1x30 belt sander

There are sic, alox, ceramic and zirconium among others. All these can be had on Amazon or other online vendors.

Not real specific. The grits went up to microns. Not sure where to buy them. I’ve forgotten where I got the last batch. Any recommendations?

Posted elsewhere, but I decided it would be a good idea to make a dedicated thread here in M, T, & E for this. Hope that's OK.

Here's something I've been meaning to post for awhile, and this seems like a good place to put it. :) It's been sitting on my computer for some time now, but when my brother recently wanted to learn to sharpen on the HF 1x30", I finished compiling it all (mostly). It wasn't meant to be so much of a "how-to" on belt grinder sharpening (there are plenty of good, thorough write-ups on that already; I recommend the one by Jerry Hossom, titled "Sharpening My Way", posted on some other forum, but you'll have to Google that on your own), but I wound up adding a section at the end describing how to do this anyway. I hope it helps!

For belts, I like to go to TruGrit. IMO, they have more stuff under one roof than anywhere else I've found, and their customer service is great. Here is the link for all of their 1x30" belts.

Yes, that's right. Additionally there a micron-graded film backed products such as "675L" diamond belts, which happen to be available in the 1" × 30" size.

Lee valley also sells a leather 1x30 that you can load with compound. This is my go to for maintaining my edges with just a couple of passes.

The leather belts I've had wobble after a short time. Apparently they stretch. So I got some linen belts. Much cheaper and they don't wobble.

J JBoone that one costs 75% more than the Surgi-Sharp belt TruGrit sells. How is it different?
Not sure I can answer as I have not had the surgi sharp belt. I have had some very fine grit belts that are similar to leather but am comfortable with the leather. Can go rough side with courser compound and flip to smooth side with finer or even no compound. As long as I keep it off the wheels the leather is tight enough to take the wobble out with the tensioning knob. Light pressure is all it takes.

Edit: I may have the sergi sharp?

One tip I can offer on the leather belts...remove after use to avoid stretching them out under constant tension.
