Anyone out there ever hear of a Bench Mark boot knife with a snap in the handle. The way this knife was made was that the knife snaped into the sheath. If anyone knows of this knife please let me know, I would love to talk with you.

I believe the knife you are referring to may be the Benchmark Moray and Ninja (designed by Blackie Collins). The Moray is double edged and the Ninja is single edged. They were originally made with a stud in the sheath that went into a hollow rivet to lock it into the sheath. These older sheaths were made of leather and came with a harness to be worn under the arm. I think they tried it with the snap in the handle sometime in the 90's. The A.G. Russell site has the current Moray & Ninja (no snap)for sale. Benchmark also made some other models with the snap in the handle similar to the Moray and Ninja, but with longer blades. Also there were small hunting knives with the snap. I think A.G. Russell had one of the hunter models for sale on the Cutting Edge site last month.

Aloha,
Jon

Benchmark calls that their Centerlock system. They made it with several models, including the Ninja and the Moray to replace the pin type retention system. Other models with the Centerlock includes a Fixed drop point call the Hunter; another double edge called the Survivor; and a small naked blade fixed blade call the hipster (in both single and double edge).
