What are some opinions from people who have owned or used both of these knives, I know it really comes down the either G10 or aluminum scales. but what do you think, I can only afford one. thanks

I would think that the 940 is much slimmer than the 950 too. I have a 940 and I love it. I don't think there's any problem with the Al scales.

Plus, the 940 is significantly lighter than the Rift if that's a factor for you.

I would go 940, but I'm biased as I've never had a 950.

weight really isnt a subject for me, never really has been. Im leaning towards the 940 but would really love to hear from someone whos used or has a 950.
thanks for the reply.

The 950 Rift is my favorite Benchmade and my favorite knife period. I always have one with me and usually carry a couple others so that other knives get some use. I have 3 of the 950 so that I have a backup in case one is lost. They are all different and I like them all. I have the multi colored G10, the black G10 and the carbon fiber model.

The 940 blade looks off to me because it is so narrow. I also do not like aluminum handles and this is a deal breaker for me. Even if it had G10 I would still go with the Rift.

actually the 930 kulgera is the one Im going with, thanks for the insight

I played with a 950 Rift yesterday at the B&M store. I had one when they first came out, but had to sell it. I really liked the lines on the knife from the very first time I saw it. I'll probably meander over to the B&M towards the end of the month to see if they still have it, and if so, bring it home!
