I had my first up-close encounter with the Benchmade 770 series today. This one had the carbon fiber scales. I held it for a while and examined it fairly closely. The craftsmanship seemed to be top drawer as did the materials. However, I couldn't decide if I liked the shape and feel of the handle. IMHO, ergonomics are an important aspect, if not the most important aspect, of any knife. If it doesn't feel right I have a hard time enjoying and/or using the knife. Therefore, I would like to hear what those of you who own a 770 series think about the ergos. Any and all opinions would be appreciated. BTW, the dealer was asking $129.00. Is this a good price for the carbon fiber model?

im pretty happy w/ my 771. the blade is thin and slices well. the 154cm gets very sharp and stays that way too. the ergos are pretty good IMO. this is not intended to be a heavy user so fatigue is not really an issue. the dual thumb studs just beg you to open the knife.

my favorite feature is the thinness from blade spine to handle back (when closed) and the small clip. being a dressier knife this goes well for IWB and pocket carry. to most people it looks like a pen in my back pocket.
all in all id say its a pretty good knife. while i might not pay that much for a dress knife again, if your are comfortable with the price then you could do worse.

I don't have one yet, but have handled a few. Generally I'm a big carbon fiber fan, but in this particular design, I prefer the model 773 which is the same knife but with a scuplted aluminum handle. I gave my boss one for Christmas last year and he loves it. The one I gave him also had the BC1 boron carbide blade coating and looked very cool for a gentleman's knife. I paid somewhat less than you mentioned for the 773BC1.

I keep thinking I need one of my own, but you know how that list goes.
