Whose got a Benchmade warn or benchmade Barrage? I'm looking at buying on and just looking for feedback. I like the warn but I guess it's basically a barrage. Still haven't decided for sure as I'm not a big assisted opener fan, but I hear the assist on this is nice.
thanks.

I have a large and a small Barrage. They seem pretty good to me as far as opening, locking up, and being able to use them comfortably.

I don't really like AOs. I kinda fell into these through a trade and an impulse buy and decided that I like them in spite of being AOs. The blade shape is really useful, they carry well and open very fast, and they lock up solidly. It takes a hand and a leg for me to close them, but that's true with any AO that I've ever had.

I have both, the Warn has a D2 blade and the Barrage has 154CM. Otherwise they are pretty much the same, with the exception of the $20.00 difference in price.

btw - they both snap open quickly and with authority.

a big difference is actually the handle scales and the weight of the two knives. the barrage has plastic/frn type scales while the Warn has laminated g-10 scales which make it a heavier knife than the barrage. the warn also has a bright red backspacer. there is a noticeable difference in weight.

I was really big into both of these designs - I've got a 580, a 580s and a 585 -- as well as a full size Warn satin (583 I think?) and both the smaller Warn blades...

The knives are virtually identical in size (the larger model is close to the larger Barrage model, and likewise with the smaller models) -

The handle materials feel very different. The Warn models are significantly heavier and feel tougher. I find the Barrage handle can (at times) feel a little... cheap (not sure if that's the right word)... That said, I've never had a problem with it, and it seems tough.

Also depends if you want a tanto blade or a normal blade style - I prefer the Warn (tanto) models personally, but I realize that's a person-to-person preference.

Only other thing I'd say is that I find the blade style on the barrage to be kinda shapeless... it's not very visually appealing -- the mini barrage is much better though.

Just my opinions.

I too have both the larger 580 and the mini 585. You can see from the pic below that they have different blade shapes (the 585 has a seconday swedge at the tip, whereas the 580 is more of a spear-point):

They open very fast and lock up solid. I also like the fact that there is a second lock on the spine, which basically turns the knife into a fixed blade. Both are very comfortable in the hand, but because of the blade designs, I prefer the 585.
