Here is some rocket surgery for you. 530 Axis(lightweight) basically a tiny lil' Axis that is Badass,Bewilldering and Benchmade. However, the Axis stud is flush, actually concave! I can't grip it. Also, the Axis get's bitchy when approached with one digit. It almost needs that "thumb/index finger group efforrt)..now my ?. Is it possible to swap out the lame Axis rollers w/a older Axis that protrudes? All-n-all its a sick knife!(1.88 oz.) ultra thiin , very cool. BM really dropped the ball w/the Axis "post?". I've read reviews "bout this same issue.

One finger won't really work with this axis-lock. You get used to the two finger style. The 530 is an awesome knife, I got mine 3 years ago. It's extreme well designed. It's perfect for edc chores, it's as light as a feather and pops open perfectly.

As I recall the axis studs don't stick out by design, it's meant to be thin.

I don't have a 530 so I can't swap any axis bars or studs and give you a good answer.

I can say that you can use calipers to measure the axis bar diameter and that if the bar is thicker you may not be be able to properly attach your omega springs.

yeah the broken one i have needs two fingers to use, but if i had to do it over again i wouldnt have gotten it, i think it is very thin, and i dont care for the lock too much,

My wife now carries my 530 Pardue. I love that knife. I may need to get one, but I just got a 710. 3 BM's now, Griptilian, 710 and 530. I love them all, and I love the axis lock. Wifey has no problem deploying the blade, she does it front of me on purpose. I love it when she teases me like that. I think the flush design was so it would not catch when pulled out of the pocket. It is a two finger articulation, but easy enough to master. The spring on the axis acts almost as an assist. Benchmade axis lock fan boy, yes I am. :-) My suggestion to the OP is to play with the opening procedure for a bit, it will become a natural reflex.
