Benchmade 100 R&R

[Practical Use]

My Christmas present to myself arrived today. Initial impressions:

1. Very nice for the money.
2. Darn sharp-on the low end of hair popping.
3. The sheath and locking "lever" suck.
4. Blade edge not evely ground on both sides. Pretty darn far off - will need (from my perspective) to be reprofiled.

Question - note my user name - "Practical Use" - I buy a knife to use. However, I received a knife from the first production run. I really don't see that that makes any difference - I am using, not collecting. In a Benchmade of this type, in my lifetime, would having a first production run every add any real value to the knife if I don't use it?

I would appreciate enlightenment.
