Hi there,
I just took delivery of 2 new Benchmade HK 14205 and I have to say it is exactly what I was looking for! The size and feel in the hand are great and I'm really happy!
BUT: has anyone else experienced this:
- the jimping on the back of the blade looks kind of mangled.
- the outline of the G10 overlays does not really match the stainless steel liners.
Both knives show the same issues. I'm not overly concerned about this, it seems only cosmetic. But I still wanted to hear your thoughts on this. Thanks!

I have its little brother the 14210. It came with excellent f&f. I would send it back to dealer or BM. They will make it right.

I have both and both were very well finished.

Totally different to you two, the scales fit with the liners and the jimping is straight.

Two lemons i supose.

OMG,
that thing looks horrible... Every Bm I have ever had was fitted mint..
Send it back.. Its worth it on such an awesome knife..

I've only handled about 6 BM's, so my opinion isn't validated much, but I have seen mangled jimping on everything from a Griptilian to a Alias I. F+F was similarly a bit off on matching of scales, spacers, etc.

Still worked great though.

I wouldn't accept that by principle. I have seen cheap knockoffs with better F&F before.

I'd send them in....The gimping is no big deal IMHO, but the G10 should be lined up much better than that. On the 14205 and 14255 I have the g10 aligns perfect with the liners.

Either take it back to the place you got it, or send it to Benchmade. The QC on it stinks. Whoever assembled the thing was having a bad day or something, but they'll make it right...and I wouldn't be surprised if they just gave you another.

I have both 14205 and 14210 models and they are flawless. Yours should be as well.

Good luck!

I also have the 14205, 14210 and the 14255 Tanto blade as well as other HK's. I had a very small problem with the scales on my 14205. I sent it in. They returned it with new G-10 on both sides and gave it an even sharper edge than when I received it new. Benchmade’s HK line is one of the best made production knives I have seen in finish and function. You paid for the best and they will fix it. Send them both back. It sucks having to mail your new knives away for a couple of weeks. Man do I know that. They will come back either replaced or fixed and looking like they were replaced. That’s what happened to me.

Nice choice picking the 14205, the HK classic! ;)

Just a quick update! Looks like KnifeCenter, that's where I bought them, is taking very good care of me! They want them back and will handpick replacements to make sure I don't get any more lemons!

Congrats on getting KnifeCenter to take care of you. I've had good dealings with them in the past!

Just wanted to give you guys a final update!
Knifecenter exchanged the two Benchmade HK 14205 that had the issues pictured in my first post! Today I received two replacements who have perfect finish, just the way I came to expect from reading all the great things about the 14205.
Happy ending,it's an awesome knife!
