Finally received my Benchmade today in the mail. After opening it i was actually a little surprised. First off i the blade doesn't have the satin finish i was expecting, but it grew on me after a little. The biggest thing i noticed were these weird black markings on the blade. One is right next to the thumb stud (you can see this in one of the pictures), and the others are just randomly along the blade (not shown in pictures). They are somewhat hard to see, but are still annoying. Lastly i've noticed that all the pictures i've seen of the blade have a stamp of the blade steel and USA stamped on it. Mine doesn't have any markings besides the HK logo. I'll post some pictures soon, but if anyone has any input on the markings and no stamps it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I've got a 14205 that has the same markings except for the black markings along the blade you describe. Just the HK logo an patent info. I find it to be a very effecient knife with a great blade shape. My older 14200 had "154CM" on the blade as well. While the 14205 is 154CM, there is not note of that on the blade. Great knife.

Well thats good to know. I was afraid i had gotten some blem or something that wasn't supposed to be sold. The black spots are kind of strange, i'm going to take it to benchmade since they are located pretty close to me. I also need them to get a screw out that i accidentally broke while trying to screw back in (whoops!).

There are one or two threads on the Benchmade website forum about something similar.

Several months ago we began marking the model number on all HK and HD knives. This is a rolling change being done as models are produced, so some blades may be marked while others are not yet caught up. We mark USA on all blades made in Oregon City, but it looks like there may have been a laser programming glitch on this particular knife. The photos and documentation look legit, but the only way to completely confirm would be to send the knife into our product services department.
