My step father has this knife. He carries it in his pack, but says he has never cut anything with it. Sadly carrying it in the kydex sheath has caused some wear.

I about had a cow when he showed me and I saw it was 1 of 1000 first production run. He said he didn't do anything special to aquire it. He walked into a know shop in Portland, OR and bought it off the shelf.

So is this knife anything special or is it just a beater now? Should he take it out of the sheath and put it with his collection or should he just use it?

They made a 1,000 of these with the same markings.
In early BM models, they didn't serialize the production numbers. This caused confusion I guess, so now BM serializes.
