Benchmade 15016BB-2, "BB"

I recently came across a benchmade hidden canyon fixed with this "BB" designation and had not seen that before. Does anyone know with the "BB" represents?

Absolutely. It is the Best Before date. Seems the steel expired the 6th of January 2015.
