I own several benchmades in 154CM. From eyeballing, they look like they are sharpened at the factory of 20 degrees. I am thinking of thinning my knives down to 15 degrees.

I was wondering if Benchmades 154CM will be able to take sharpening at 15 degrees without micro chipping. I will probably be using a DMT Deluxe Aligner kit to thin down and then final sharpening on a Sharpmaker.

As I do not use my knives hard, durability is not a major issue, it is therapeutic to touch up every now and then. I just want polished shaving sharp edges.

Any comments would be appreciated.
 
BM 154CM can handle 15 degrees with no problem in regular use. :thumbup:

You may also want to try, that 20 degrees with a 30 degree back bevel thing. It seems to make it bite a tad better and touching up is even faster with the Sharpmaker
