Just picked up a plain edge Pre-Production model in GIN-1 steel for $35 new. Haven't heard too much about this knife, but it looks pretty cool. I've been looking for a small fixed blade, but I wonder about the steel and the "rubber" coating on the handle. Durabilty issues?

How does the GIN-1 compare to say VG-10 in edge holding?

Can a TekLock be used for this knife? I looks to have lots of holes in the sheath.

Thanks for any info/experience!!!

Morning,

I own one that I keep clipped to the outside of my waders while fly fishing. I use a teklock. Very handy little knife and I wouldn't freak out if I lost it due to the cost. Gin 1 doesn't seem to keep a super edge, but I may have taken it down to too acute an angle. 35$ is a good deal for such a knife.

If you dont mind me asking where did you get one that cheap? Havent seen them that price at least 10-20 more on the net

Sigman,

I found it on EBAY of all places! I usually never find them that cheap, but I got lucky. $35 buy it now price...:D
I also found the 440 steel at a local gun show, so they can be had for <$40 if you look around. Check out www.newgraham.com ($37.50)
