Today the Benchmade 172 arrived and on one side of the head (the side in the ads) has the usual Benchmade Logo, turn it over and the K5 tactical logo is emblazened on the other side of head. It is also numbered, "First Production 092 of 150."

It has G-10 handles with real good scoring on them, looks like they are a lot more grippy than the aluminum scales on the original K5. The bottom of the handle is split for about an inch or so, so you can use it to grab onto the edge of any metal for leverage to bend it. It also appears to be more of a black anodized finish as opposed to the grey paint on the original K5.

It was a bit smaller than I expected from what all I've read. I could drag it around pretty easy, but for its intended purpose, it will probably spend a lot of time riding around in my truck.

It will be a good bruiser to my light and fast CQC-T, and my everyday smack around SOG fusion hawk. Tomahawks are cool.

I'll post some pics if anyone is interested...

Here's some images. Seems to be a black powder coat on closer inspection. The burling on the handle is real nice. Anything's good that sits on a Ritz.
