Hello all,
Im wondering which knife you would think is better out of both. I plan on using it as a EDC/utility knife which will be used from evrything from cutting tape/boxes to camp chores as carving wood, food prep etc. if i plan on doing anything really heavy i will usually bring my fixed blade with me.
lets please keep it focused on the two knives i mentioned.

i checked the specs they're about the same. my dad has the buck and loves it. but i dont really have any opinions on the benchmade. so any help would be appreciated! merry christams, happy holidays and have a happy new year guys!

The Buck looks big and tough but I'd prefer teh Adamas because it has a regular blade. I don't think tanto really gives me any benefits.

yeah, they're both big and tough. the point is more like a "spanto" its more like a spearpoint tanto hybrid. where it gives the benifiets on both i believe

I think it is a bit early to ask this, since few people have actually owned the Adamas.

Going of specs alone, I like the BM better though.

oh i thought it had been out for a little while. i was checking for reviews and couldnt find many. but from specs i was leaning towards the benchmade. and if i want to try the buck i can always borrow my dads and he can borrow the benchmade

If it's going to be a user I'd go with the Buck. Half the price and should be plenty tough, steel is more than adequate, and like the Benchmade it's made in the USA.

i can get the benchmade for 121 and the buck for 99 so price dif. isnt that big. but thanks for the help guys!

X 2 !! I have the fixed blade CSAR-T & it is one awesome knife to be sure. I will be adding the folder to my collection as well, someday.

I haven't had a CSAR-T, but have no doubt that it can handle the load! Read too many reviews about it doing just that. That said, I do have the Adamas, well 2, as one is under the tree for my son, and have to say that this appears to be one tough knife! I think, and has been my experience, that BM does a good job with D2, which is what the Adamas has. Feels good in my hand, large size, and has the weight to be solid, 7.7 ounces. The spearpoint blade is a very usable every day carry blade, and probably more so than a tanto blade, but that depends on what your knife requirements are. Though I don't care much for combo blades, the positives of this knife outweigh that, as do they for, the black coating, another thing I don't care that much for. At least it is the Boron Carbide coating and not the cake icing soft teflon coating! Solid lockup, no blade wiggle in any direction, tip up, deep-carry clip, hey, it has it all!

Edited to add;

As said above, the Adamas has not been out long, only 3 days for me, but what I've written are the things I noticed and are a first impression. First impressions are usually good to go with!

i plan on getting it with plain edge. and thank you for the info. i have to add your one awesome dad! i bet your son will be beyond thrilled tomorrow

I hope so because he also has a Bob Dozier KS7 Wilderness fixed blade under that same tree! I'll enjoy the plain blade more than the combo, and have 2 of the all black LE's on order also.

Btw, I just had mine apart to clean out the excessive oil. Don't know what BM used, but I had put a drop of Miltec 1 on each side of the pivot when it came in the other day, and it was simply too much lube. Cleaned out the oil, polished the washers, and big diameter washers they are, also polished the blade pivot area on the blade. Put it back together with a small drop of miltec on each side, and it's good to go now.....and smoother to open.

ok, thanks for the oil heads up even though i must admit with folders i tend to overlube bit myself :o and he also has a dozier to! you know what i might have to be your new adopted son ;) but seriously i think if he diddnt already your son will faint from joy when he unraps em  . i remember when my dad bought matching pairs of the spyderco d'allara. mine was plain his was serrated. it was a really special birthday present.

I've always loved knives, and he picked up on in the same way! His mother and I are divorced, after being married for 22 years, and I probably overcompensate to some degree when it comes to his bd, and to Christmas. But, you only go through this life once, and you might as well enjoy it a bit!

Merry Christmas sasquatch1, you big ole' hairy thang!!

i understand, and exactly you only get this life once why not enjoy it! merry christmas to you too!
