Just received my 275 Adamas yesterday. Nice... Here are some thoughs after a day of playing around.
Initial thoughts out of the box- smooth, opens and closes very easily. Practically glides. One of the smoothest opening and closing knives I have ever handled. Have to be careful closing since it comes around so easily. Same with opening. Need to keep the thumb on the stud and not get behind the blade. Blade is slightly off center when closed- slightly left, but straight when open. Tip was also ground a little off center, towards the left, but not bad. Will address this when I put my own sharpening angles on it. Lockup is rock solid up and down and side to side. No play. Grip feels good in my hand (L to XL glove, depending on maker), but not quite as good as my 520.
Looked at the sheath that came with it. :thumbdn: Thin nylon, has a "malice clip" (patented!) for attaching the sheath to a belt or strap that looks and feels insubstantial. With the clip attached to the sheath the snap for the sheath is next to the body. Haven't tried the sheath yet but looks uncomfortable. Not sure if I will try it. Probably will look for a 1/4 or 1/2 kydex sheath (any suggestions?).
Time to switch the pocket clip. OOPS!!! The Torx head is stripped on one head
The other comes out fine. I manage to get the other screw out and looked at other knives for a replacement. NOTHING WILL FIT! All the other screws (including those on a Buck CSAR-T) are much smaller. Dropped a note to BM about the screws and waiting to hear back. Anyway, got the screw back on loosely so I could at least play with the knife. Feels a little different in the hand with the clip on the other side. Different, but not bad.
Even though it is a heavy knife, it sits in the pocket very well. I really like the deep seating pocket clip! Note- I use some paracord in the lanyard hole in a barrel type knot to help lift some of my knives out. Flips foward in the pocket and out of the way when not needed and easy to grab to pull the knife out. The knife comes out of the pocket very smoothly.
Now, on to fixing dinner! I decided it would be fajita time so I used it as my kitchen knife. The good edge and deep belly in the knife made it easy to cut long strips of chicken. I was able to cut relatively thin strips of onion and pepper despite the thick blade. I was able to rock the knife very well when mincing garlic.
Now, just waiting for some fun time with the knife. Will try some branch splitting, general cutting chores, whittling, etc. If it continues to grow on me like it has been, it may become my horseback or motorcycle go-to knife which will make the hunt for a sheath a little more of a priority.
Do I like it? Yes. Do I love it? Time will tell.
