IMHO this is much more appealing than the brown, doesn't have the pocket eating texture either.

This one is definitely more visually appealing than the production version. I will have to see about picking one of these up.

Have one I preorder. I have the standard version and -1301. I like the standard but the smoothed out/sculpted g10 does make a huge difference. I will probably end up giving the tan 300 to my brother and keeping the 300-1 and 1301.

I love the look! I just wish they would make one with a slightly larger blade is all.

Still, very attractive knife in my opinion...

Hopefully the 300 series flipper has been enough of a success that Benchmade comes out with future flipper designs.

I think BM hit a home run with this one.
Now, if they added a blade made of a super steel like M390.
Then they'd have a grand slam!

All the 300 series have blade lengths of 3.2 inches. Hopefully, the handle on the new 300-1 has the same feel as the 300-1301 and not the original 300.

The new scales make a big difference in the looks, but the short blade and mix of lock technologies is overdone. I'd love to see this knife as a simplified locking liner.

I'd like to see a version with a stronger detent (for better flipper action), thin CF scales (thinner handle overall and better grip) and M390 for the blade steel.

I think the blade length is a little problematic for some. Either it's not long enough or for people in municipalities limiting blade length to 3 inches too long.

bought the 300 did not like it pick up this one and can't put it down. now looking for the300-1301

I just got this one last week, and I have mixed feelings on it.

Pros:
-The scales are grippy without being hand-eaters.
-The blue/black scales are beautiful!
-I like the axis lock. This is the first that I've owned, and it is ultra-smooth.

Cons:
-I wish that it was just 1/4" longer for my hand.
-The flipper is a complete waste of space because 1) the detent is not strong enough to promote a "flip" and 2) when the knife is deployed, the flipper prevents you hand from using the entire handle as a grip

I really need to use this knife before I pass real judgement over it though.

I got an email about this from one of the paid vendors here just yesterday. Very tempting. And I'm just fine with 154CM. M390 would significantly increase the price and I'm not sure that the value would be that much greater.

I used my Mini Grip yesterday to make a plug out of some cedar for a woodpecker hole in my cedar siding. It sailed through the cedar wood like it wasn't even there and then sharpened back up very easily. I'm a believer in the quality of the 154CM steel.

+1 on that. Benchmade's 154CM is pretty good by itself.

I checked out the 300 yesterday, honestly not very impressed. I couldn't 'flip' it well at all. It really needed a wrist flick for me. So I feel that they did a bad job on the flipper aspect. Where with any zero tolerance, it will fly open as a manual, this knife didn't want to do it. Still a good solid looking knife, but the flipper was bad IMO, and the grip was small and obtrusive to using the axis lock for me.

I have had mine a week and love, but I am thinking of grinding off the flipper part I open the knife with the thumb stud.
