I picked up the 300sn at a local gun shop one day when I was on a hunt for ammo. I liked the knife, but the flipper had to go. ive been a thumstud/hole guy forever. So I cut off the flipper, dyed the scales and was happy. Until one day I decided to grind out the middle choil, (if thats what its called) and was again happy. One day cruising through the forum, I read a post on acid/stone washing the blade. So I watched a how to video and decided I should try. Luckly Ihave a massive rock tumbler at work so all I needed was the acid. So I did that and it turned out great. Before I put it all back together i powder coated the liners, black oxided the clip and called it good. here's the finished product...

That is certifiably BAD*SS!!! I like it a lot better that stock, what color dye did you use to on the G10?

Rit dye, navy blue. I let it soak in boiling water, (not boiling it) for 15-20 min until the water was warm enough to grab it out with my hands. I was looking for a deep blue, but I really dig the dark brown look. I didn't measure out cups of water, just poured a pot full and the whole pack.

Cool thanks!

Wow, I really like that! Good job.

The 300sn was the baby of a guy that I've chatted with (not Butch) a bit over at Benchmade. I know that he would be interested in seeing it. Do you mind if I share it with him?

Also how did you do the clip? Is that acid dipped or something else? If it's something else I'm very interested in how it's done.

You can share it, i have no problem with that. The clip is black oxided. I sand blasted the clip to open up the pores, and let it soak in the oxide over my lunch break (about an hour) and it was good to go. I am lucky to have all this equipment at work (i do metal fabrication) Without sandblasting, the shiny coating will not take to the black oxide. make sure the part is absolutely clean. wear gloves and dont touch the part with bare hands before you dip it, because the oils on your hand will mess with the finish. hope this helps

That looks good! I always thought I would grind out the handle like that. That blade is the bomb. (old school ref.)

Jastab great work! Thanks for sharing. Now many of us will wish we had access to the equipment like you have at work and wish we had the originality it took to think of the mods.

Thanks man! Yeah definitely spoiled equipment wise! I just looked at it and said, " what if I did this...?" and it just kept going :)
