Guys, I know this is a bit silly. As maybe 99% of the people here gonna say that one bali VS one folder is not a question. Yeah I know, but the thing is I am really get stuck. Straightly, c, I have got 200 bugs, I need a FOLDING-FORM EDC. I can accept D2 or S30V, both great steel, S30V is a bit better. The length is similar, same brand. All looks great, the thing is which one is tougher? Bali or the mono-lock? Thanks all!

BTW: I have got a SwampRat HowlingRat in my bag, just need another FOLDING piece to fit the pocket of my LEVIS 523 or G-Star!!!!!!!!!!:yawn::yawn:

I use my Morpho 32 as my edc. Great knife, great size, good steel. But im upgrading to a Bradley Mayhem. S30V Bali for just a lil over $200.

Bali will only fail if the pivots fail. And balis and most modern folders use similar quality pivots so I doubt that will ever happen. The balisong lock cannot fail since the real "lock" is your grip, look at the spyderco balis.

But im sure someone will disagree.

IMHO the Bali is going to be the stronger knife but the 635 is going to be a better slicer so I guess it depends on what you are going to use the knife for.

My first Benchmade was the 32 and I faithfully EDC'd it.....until I got my Mayhem last week. What a knife. The D2 in the morpho was nice for slicing, but was just a hair to small for some of my daily tasks. Plus I had issues with chipping in the D2 when cutting heavy duty cardboard and whenever Id accidently drop it trying to show off. I bought a 42 originally to replace the 32 as an EDC, but realized the blade was LARGE and intimidating for most. Plus its such a fantastic flipper, so I use it more as a toy lately. Anyways, the Mayhem has a fantastic blade on it, S30V, and is a sweet spot between being big enough to play with, and not be attracting attention while using the knife. If you look around on the forums, your bound to find one for a reasonable price, slightly over the price of a 32 or the 635.

635 vs 32? That is a bit silly. Like comparing apples to lampshades. Framelock vs Balisong aside, you're comparing a thicker, broad blade to a narrow, thin one. But both will serve you well as an EDC. And I can't imagine you having lock strength issues with either. Both look nice in the pocket too.

In the end, I think you should just think about which style of knife you want. If you don't have any other balisongs, the 32 will scratch that itch nicely, but it's definitely more of a EDC balisong than one to learn tricks with (get a 42 for that). I'm guessing that you don't have any balis yet; if you did, and you really like them, you'd probably just go for the 32 without thinking twice about the 635.

Thanks alot guys. The thing is I have got a very cheap bali and I do not have any "lock" folder by now except for the SWISS ARMY KNIVE. Always concern about the FAIL of the locking system, although I know it is pretty hard for a decent FOLDER to have that problem. I have been dealing with the fixed blade all along the time. Just a new blood on FOLDER, whooooooops, maybe not even a new blood coz I have got no FOLDER at all.

Again thanks all the people who read, replied this post, it helps alot.

Im suprized nobody has said this but...get both, both fill a role in your collection and you have neither an edc bali or a heavy folder. just my .02.

D2 and S30V are so different it's hard to compare them. The D2 will rust where as the S30V has a high degree of stain resistance. But D2 is some good blade steel. I'd be willing to bet it will hold it's edge a lot longer than S30V. And I never found D2 all that hard to sharpen. It's a steel that just goes and goes.

As far as lock. IMHO there is no lock more durable and fail proof than a Balisong. The circumstances under which one would fail are hard to imagine. And I believe the blade may snap before the handle gives. The Mayhem is a fine bali. I have a BM42 and I love it. When you lock that handle... it feels like a one piece knife. Don't get me wrong most of benchmade's folders are knife. But I have to give the nod to the bali on strongest lock.
