Just wondering if you guys know if this is a real benchmade.

Looks real to me. The counterfeits wouldn't necessarily bother with all the details.
 
ATS-34 was used by Benchmade in the 90s and early 2000s before switching to 154CM. That's legit.
 
I'd disassemble that knife, give the scales a warm bath in Dawn soap, as well as the blade and everything else. Gently scrub the goo off the nooks and crannies and lightly oil and reassemble.
