Anyone own the 375 Fixed blade? This was my most recent purchase 2 weeks ago I love this knife everything about it except I could be loving it so much more if the spine serrations came actually useful. They could be very useful if only they came from the factory sharpened with edges which they absolutely do not. Can anyone give some insight as to why a whole length of spine serrations would be put onto this blade but not AT ALL edged? I emailed Benchmade 2 weeks ago to ask them all about it and if in fact I could send my 375 to them and even pay them to have the serrations sharpened and made to be useful but it has been 2 weeks now and I have not received any correspondence back from them regarding this. So I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if Benchmade would do this for me if I was to pay them? Or who would be able to do it for me? I'd rather not have the warranty voided but as I said I love this knife so much I'd be into having it done regardless.

I doubt they would they cant sharpen serrations. They are bad about replying to emails so its better to just call them.

Benchmade does not sharpen serrations. They will only sharpen the plain edge portion of the knife.

As to your fixed Adamas, the "serrations" on the spine aren't really designed for general cutting. The intent is to use them as a saw.

Obviously they are designed for being used as a saw lol, the reason I posted this is because they are absolutely dull no edge whatsoever rendering them completely useless to use I need to just post up a pic so you can see exactly what I'm getting at. I know Tom Veff will do the work, is there anyone else anyone here can recommend?

So i called Customer Service, explained my product issue and apparently Quality Control just missed a whole 3 inch row of spine serrations from being edged before the knife was put in its box and sent out for sale. just seems too strange how anyone could miss that..has anyone ever had anything similar happen when they've bought a new knife?

Did you get to take any pictures of the spine? And, more importantly, is Benchmade going to replace the knife for you?

I've seen some QC issues with a handful of Benchmades in recent times, but their customer service has always been good to correct them.

I called Benchmade yesterday and the guy in Customer Service told me that it sounds like QC had completely missed the whole row of spine serrations and that if I sent the 375 to them then they would absolutely take care of it for me, that they are running 5-7 days turnaround time on warranty work. I don't know whether to just send it back to Benchmade or contact who I bought the knife from to ask for a replacement?

As for pictures, I can't post any since I'm only a registered member, just figured that one out lol

It depends on how quick you want to have your knife back. I know it sucks having to wait for warranty work, expecially when you just bought the knife, but Benchmade will make it right if you send it to them.

I agree, I'll just send it to Benchmade, I would love to have the inch of blade at the tip right before the spine serrations sharpened as well anyways. Anywayzzz i love this blade so damn much that I'm just so relieved to find out the spine serrations aren't supposed to be completely dull on the 375!

The knife you have is a production piece, not a custom. Defects are an unavoidable part of manufacturing. Out of the thousands of 375's made, a handful are bound to be imperfect. To expect otherwise is unreasonable.

I'd send it back to the retailer for an exchange.

It's my EDC fixed. I've handled a few of them and the serrations aren't very sharp. I doubt it's defective, just not sharp. I sharpened mine with a diamond rod ( Eze-lap)Took me about 10 minutes , and now they cut well. D2 does take a bit of time, but it's not too bad.

Hiwa, my Adamas 375 fixed blade came with the black ceracote completely covering the serrations and flat tops no silver edges on them as I have seen in pictures all over the place and I'm reviews, as I said I'm not expecting them to come razor sharp, but as new as I am to this I could not edge them myself to where they should be at coming from the factory I just need to somehow post a damn picture up, my fault I'll get on that

Thanks. Yes, they do look unsharpened. I heard Benchmade's service is pretty good if you send it in. Mine had the ceracote on it too and didn't come very sharp , but being experienced at sharpening , I took it upon myself to doctor them up. I'm sorry I can't post a pic as I don't have a camera right now and a primitive cell phone.

It's your call I suppose. I have a lot of factory knives that didn't come exactly as I wanted them , but just decided to fix them myself instead of sending them out. After I sharpened the top of the 375 , it can cut notches in wood and cut cord , so it's good enough where I like it. :)

I reckon I'm sending it into Benchmade end of the week, its their knife they will take good care of it. I'm ready to get into the sharpening of my knives myself, I am looking at the DMT diamond 4 stone 6 inches with wood base kit, they have kits with aligners but I think they will just get in the way in the long run?

Sharpening is a lengthy topic. I recommend to check out the Maintenance ,Tinkering , and Embellishment section and do a search within that sub-forum itself for recommended new sharpening set ups and check things out before you spend a ton of money you didn't have to. ;)

Hope you get your knife fixed to your liking.

So I just received my 375 Adamas back from Benchmade, they took care of putting an edge on the spine serrations and gave the primary blade a sharpen...it is an insanely razor toothy sharp, way sharper then when I first bought it I'm just super impressed with my 375 and Benchmade for taking such awesome care of my knife, I hope to start sharpening my own knives soon cause I just got my Spyderco Yojimbo 2 a few days ago and I lovvvvve it but it really needs a proper sharpening, didn't come as sharp as I thought it should have
