Oh boy, just got the new 2004 Benchmade catalog and on the first page is Mike Snody's Resistor, but in the Axis Lock format.

Specs: 154CM blade is plain, serrated or BT coated, blade length 3.75", blade thickness-.15", open length 8.0", closed 4.66", weight 5.70"

The handle will be anodized alum w / G-10 "machinegineered" blade scales. It has a cool new clip which is bent over "deep carry" style for left/right tip-up carry. The blade is just like Mike's custom Resistor, even has the "madonna bra" thumb studs! The "machinegineered" G-10 is so cool. The scales are only partial and have a "gnawed" appearance. MSRP-$190.00

Sorry I have no pics, but this is really awesome. The Resistor and Neil B.'s Skirmish are by far the best designs in the whole catalog. I just can't wait to get both of these, BM did such a super job recreating them.

Boy, that sounds great. Gotta add the Benchmade / Snody to the "must have" list.

Very very cool, Benchmade is definitely carving out a niche for themselves. Glad to see it's an Axis as well!

Can you scan the page from the catalog and post it for us less fortunate?

I went to Mr. Snody's website and if Benchmades version looks anything like Mike's, it will be a winner. Can't wait to see it.

Sounds awesome!!!! I hope it is released soon. Benchmade has scored a real coup with Snody and Blackwood. Their stock just went up in my book.

BM's 2004 catalog just hit the streets, but having it listed up front is, we can hope, an indication that it will be soon. I'd have liked to have seen it in 30V or at least D2, though. Hmmm...I may wait to see if an LE with upgraded steel comes around later on.

Not a good pic of it, but here she is.

On the top of my must have list.

I'm not a huge fan of that partial scale look. But the handle looks real beefy, looks like it will give a lot of control when cutting.

This shows some serious customization potential!

I'm envisioning some bolsters and scales, the only thing that would need done is to cut the oval for Axis travel and not have to worry about milling the innards.

Overall looks sweet though :D

how/where do I get a copy of the catalog?

I'm not really into the partial scale look too. IMO, the resistor looks best with bolsters and scale. why 154CM?

so many knives, so little money....

The Snody was the first one that grabbed my eye. Then it was the 780 Osborne, the 630 Skirmish - Blackwood, 670 Apparation - Pardue/Osborne with the 'Optimizer', 960CFP Osborne, and the 180DM McHenry & Williams. I need to hit the lottery! :)

The Resistor:

Am I right to assume that this will be in their "Blue" line? If so, I would definitely expect to see some LE versions eventually. I will hold out to see what they come up with. I do like the blade shape, and have been looking for a new Axis lock to buy, so I guess I'll wait a bit longer. I'd love to see this one in Titanium with no overlays, and a D2 blade.

DD

Is it just me, or do those handles appear clunky compared to the custom version? The proportions just don't seem quite right.

In general, though, it's nice to see BM teaming up with new designers, since aesthetics and design variety have always seemed to me the weak link in their lineup.
