Benchmade 440 Opportunist. Does anyone have this knife? It Looks pretty damn cool. Is it tough? Would it make a good hunting knife? Is the S30V blade good. It does have a pocket clip right?

I believe that it, like the slightly smaller 480 Shoki, are the closest things Benchmade makes now to a 'Gent's' knife - or 'Gentleman's knife', as some term it. I wouldn't reach for one as a hunting knife - unless field dressing moles to ferrets was the order of the day. Of course, it is a 3" blade over .1" of S30V - pretty good stock - and whitetail deer aren't 'tough'...

Hmmm.. The Blade is quite similar to the Bone Collector Mini. Biggest difference being the Bone Collector is D2. I would assume the Bone Collector a little better for hunting though. I also believe D2 to be stronger right?

I've got this knife and the 480 and I love them both. Smooth action, well-made, light, elegant but not for hunting though. If you want a BM for hunting, try the 710, Griptilian or even the 520.

I had one . . . and traded it. It's definitely NOT for hunting. More of a dress knife, IMHO. The S30V blade is very nice, but the liners aren't very thick. And it comes both with and without the clip.
