Recommendation? Benchmade 485

Hello everyone,

Hopefully you and your families are healthy and safe. A few years ago, I purchased Benchmade 485 Valet knife, it was several months after the release of the knife. I really like that knife however the amount of blade play was unacceptable, even after I tightened the pivot screw the blade was still loose. So I ended up returning the knife and purchasing another 485 from a different store, same thing lots of blade play. Another return. I really like this knife and want to give it another chance. I was wondering has anyone purchased Benchmade 485 recently, how is the lock? Thank you!!!

I purchased a valet in 2018 and the lock is perfect. A beautiful knife that is unfortunately in my office, which I have been locked out of for over one month! I miss that knife.

I have two that were purchased last year and both are fine. One was purchased off of knifecenter when they were discontinued, the other from Shinola.

I had a Shinola 485 and it didn’t have any blade play out of the box. However, if you loosened the pivot so it’d swing freely with the lock disengaged, it did have a little.
